Help!! Moms!

Ok, so Jadyn is totally been on babywise since she was 8 weeks old! Naps and night-time have been a piece of cake.....until this past weekend. She literally screams saying she doesn't want to nap or go to sleep. I mean I am spanking the kid to go to sleep. AHHHHH it's horrible....She wants a toy or a book. So, I give it to her "not that one...something else" ...yes, she is playing me. She even wakes up in the night to do this. Did your two year olds go through this??? After screaming....she goes to sleep. help?

Owen goes through about a week (or 3-4 days- feels like forever) every 6 months where he doesn't want to nap. We're totally babywise, too. My 2 cents is to not give up your routine that she will slip back into it. Just a little trial of mommy. Owen has gone back to napping just fine (I'm sure I'm jinxing myself here), but he does have those hiccups every now and again.

jill..i distinctly remember elizabeth doing the exact same thing. we would have to stand over her crib and rub her back until she fell asleep. it took several weeks, but she finally got right back into her routine. just hang in there!

hey jill I am so glad you joined the blogging world. Brady, my 2yr old is going through it right now and Jake did it several times since he was 2. I think it is really just a testing of the limits. Both of mine are GREAT sleepers except these episodes. We turned both of their doors around so we could lock it from the outside. (Per the suggestion of our peditrician) If they would wake up at night we would put them back in bed and lock the door. There are a few nights that they sleep at the door and then they get it and get back in their bed. It has not lasted more than a week with either child. At naps I would spank them if they got out of bed. It may mean that you battle it for a day or two but they just need to know that we are going to be consistent. For us it was a battle of the will and I knew this was a season and they were testing the waters. I am sure this may sound harsh but as long as you know she is fine, not sick, scared or such - just procrastinating and wanted to do what she wants then the very best thing for her is sleep and knowing that mommy means what she says - It is bedtime. This is what has worked for us on several occasions with 2 completely opposite personalities - hope it is helpful
